Gambela National Park

Gambela National Park is the Western region of Ethiopia Baro River area. It is Ethiopia’s true tropical zone. Hence, we can find all the elements of the African safari. Ethiopian flavor has enhanced it distinctly . The park, the largest in the country, covers 5,060 square kilometers.

Further more, Empty docks and huge warehouses fallen into disuse. Certainly, remind the time when western Ethiopian town of Gambela was a prosperous trading center and thriving inland port. The navigable Baro River connects it’s with Khartoum, 1,388 kilometers away. And because of this, during the late 1940’s the British government established port facilities here.

Nile perch weighing over 100 kilos have been caught in the waters of the Baro. And on such fare huge crocodiles thrive here. Along with the Nile lechwe, buffalo, giraffe, tiang, waterbuck, roan antelope, zebra, bushbuck, Abyssinian reedbuck, warthog, hartebeest, lion, elephant and hippotamus.
