Surma Tribe

There are three type of ethnic that belong to Surma Tribe which are Suri, Me’en, and Mursi. Certainly, They live in southwestern Ethiopia. “Surma” is the Ethiopian government’s collective name for the Suri, Mursi and Me’en groups. They inhabit the southwestern part of the country. And have a total population of 186,875. They beautifully paint themselves with white chalk and the women are adorned with lip plates. Certainly, Surma honor and respect their cattle which binds their tradition of communal living. In order for a man to marry a woman the Surma must participate in the Donga Stick fighting ritual.
